Our next member-exclusive webinar will be 16th November 12pm UK time, on benefiots and challenges of Transitioning to a sustainable Open Access model.
Our speakers for the session will
Delia Mihaila, CEO of MDPI and Unai Vicario, Publishing Coordinator at MDPI.
Moving a journal from the traditional subscription-based model to the Open Access model is often a matter of concern for the editorial offices, societies and authors supporting any journal. When discussing with all those stakeholders and listening to their questions and concerns we often find some commonalities. In this webinar, Delia and Unai will provide an overview of the Open Access model and clarify those questions that are often raised when journals consider transitioning to Open Access, sharing examples and their experiences through two case studies.
The webinar will try to offer practical advice and answer the following questions:
- What are the benefits of adopting the Open Access model?
- We would like to move to the Open Access model, but we are worried about the effect of introducing Article Processing Charges (APC) and afraid of losing authors who cannot afford to pay an APC.
-As a society or association, we offer free access to our journal as a benefit for our members. What could we offer to our members if we move the journal to the Open Access model?
- As a society we offer the subscription to our members. How will the society keep the members if we move to the Open Access model?
- If the journal adopts the Open Access model, how can we continue to guarantee the quality?
