The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) published two new flowcharts to help editors and publishers decide what to do when they suspect that the authors manipulated the publication process: one for image manipulation, and one for peer review manipulation. Both these types of manipulation can result in retraction of the papers concerned, and thus require a careful investigation.
