Each year, the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) hosts a complimentary ISMPP University (ISMPP U) educational webinar that is open to the public. This year’s special 90-minute session is titled “Open Access and Medical Publishing,” and will be broadcast on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
The webinar will explore the growing debate surrounding open access publishing and address the lack of common understanding of what open access means, how it works, and why it is important for different stakeholders. The webinar will include expert speakers representing different stakeholder views – industry (Valerie Philippon from Shire, a leading global biotech in rare diseases), funder (Ashley Farley, Associate Officer of Knowledge & Research Services, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation), publisher (Joe Adams, Regional Sales Manager EMEA, Wiley, and David Sampson, MBA, Vice President and Publisher, Publishing, American Society of Clinical Oncology), patient, and academia.
